2 years ago, a student was doing a survey for his psychology class to see what colors most people associate with technology. he asked my history class all at once what their opinion was about it and the overwhelming response was silver. most people thought that silver corresponds to technologically advanced things and futuristic technology (i.e. computers, spaceships, ipods and the like). its interesting that you've referred to the digital screens as white. white is also a good color to associate with technology or digital things, but i would try to think more deeply into the choice. i love it the way it is, because the white goes well with the washed earlier on the same line. whitewashed, thats a word, and a potentially loaded word. and the technological angle of the illustration stands up well when you talk about it in reference to academic things, since school, education, and academia in general is moving further and further towards the technological side of things and learning is less and less frequently done the old fashioned way with books and highlighters. case in point: this blog. by the way, thanks for the invite. ill try to make good use of this thing. but it is my first time trying to make sense of blogs and what theyre for. i have a feeling that our use for this blog is going to be nothing like what the rest of the world likes to use it for. well, im off to a poetry reading in old city. keep up the good work with the haikus. i hope your little haiku notebook didnt actually get destroyed in the wash, as this poem sugguests.
