homephone

i don't even have
text messaging
on my phone.
My stepfather dis-
connected it
because he didn't want
to pay the bill.

For my birthday
i will ask him
for a new cell phone
which he can likely
get for free
& then disable the
text messaging features.

i like the broken "dis-connected" between lines 4 and 5. it adds to the sense of dis-satisfaction and dis-connection between stepfather and the phone's user. also, this poem works well centered. it seems like a rhythic, dripping non-tirade down the page. i guess i don't always think about alignment since i'm used to writing left-aligned in my notebook. it's a welcome change of habit.

simply ludicrous. if there ever was a person who would not abuse the text messaging privilege, it's you. if doc enabled your text messaging, you would probably never even use it.

doc is crazy.
i hope he finds this.
